I’m staggered that yet another convicted felon is elevated, this time as US Ambassador to France. I sincerely hope Macron dismisses him and dispatches him straight to Tel Aviv 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷

Thank you for this statement. It's embarrassing to say the least that another real estate development is dabbling in diplomacy having been appointed by the real estate developer that thinks he's king of the world. Kushner and Trump are truly inexcusable.

One way the American president is straining the international system, including the ties between longstanding allies like France and the United States, echoes the manner in which he is straining the norms and rules of US domestic politics. Namely, by appointing patently unqualified and unprincipled people, in this case a presidentially pardoned criminal, to highly sensitive positions. It's as though he's daring the ally to respond, or something to give, or the system to break. It might be characterized as sheer incompetence if there weren't an element of active malevolence and deliberate destruction to it. Perhaps France (and other important friends) can offer a diplomatic lesson to the United States, and thereby help the international system stave off a challenge to its survival led, paradoxically, by one of its founding members. This storm cannot last forever, can it?

The argument "anti-zionism is antisemitism" comes as really antisemitic, as it frames all jews as necessarily aligned with the israeli government whatever crimes they engage into.

So i have been searching into that and zionism seems to be a somewhat direct interpretation of some quotes from the Torah where god bestow upon the descendant of Jacob the land where Israel tries to sit, so i guess it makes sens to link the two. Still, the interpretation and more generally the idea of a "jewish nationalism" is quite controversial among the scholars, so i guess "antizionism is (an) antisemitism" can be true or false depending on who you ask... as with all thing religious and as long as god, or the gods, do not come to explain everything clearly (and not just leaving contradicting notes in books written by ghost Writers)

Remember, you’re talking about a country that acquitted a guy who murdered an elderly Holocaust survivor by throwing her out of a window. Grounds for acquittal: the defendant was smoking pot.
