✍️Join the Conversation: Write for The French Dispatch
The next step of our project is to continue building up our community, reinforcing this platform, and contributing to human knowledge. Want to help out?
👋Hey guys, Julien here. The French Dispatch is a reader-supported publication, and both our coverage of current affairs as well as our ability to bring you more news and information on the world around us is entirely funded by paid subscriptions and donations.
If you enjoy reading articles written by high-level experts, then make sure to support the publication by liking, subscribing, and sharing it with your friends and colleagues, and consider taking a paid subscription.
Hello there!
Firstly, to those who celebrate it or who are just in it for the chocolate: Happy Easter!
As usual, we’re taking one of those regular weekends off of our busy posting schedule to rest, chill out a little, and do some planning. However, we have an important topic to cover today that keeps coming up, and that is the focus of our weekly publication this week:
People wanting to contribute to The French Dispatch
With
community growing rapidly, I’m receiving more and more interest from writers, policy experts, and other budding writers who would like to contribute written pieces to this publication.I’m always looking for new perspectives, new points of view, and interesting pieces exploring active discussions from new points of view, whether from established, experienced authors or first-time writers.
So, suppose you have an idea for an article that would provoke discussion, develop a nuanced point of view, develop ideas, or interest our readers, and which will contribute to the philosophy of this publication.
You can fill in our contribution form by either clicking on the link on the navigation bar above or by clicking on the picture below:
The Rules
Naturally, there are some tips and rules for these submissions
Try to send a short pitch around three concise paragraphs long. If you already have an article ready, keep it under 1200 words
Keep the article specific. If you have a wider story to tell, it can always be done over an article series
Include photos that are covered under Creative Commons or have the right licenses. Include sources, links, and credit
Add to the conversation. Be original and clearly written
Give a feeling for the piece you want to write. Model the style of the article you want to write, don’t promise an idea (“I want to…”, “I will argue…”, “I like…”)
Please include a short bio of yourself, citing pertinent qualifications and/or why you’re the person to write such a piece. (A sentence or two is sufficient. Feel free to include links to other published material in the relevant section)
If you want to get involved in TFD on a more profound level, then drop your CV in the link above too
Future Adventures
At some point, I’ll probably open the Discord Server that I’ve created to facilitate our community for all of you, probably start doing more video content, and get involved in a lot more creative content.
But today is not that day, and time is always a constraint when you’re a one-man show who has two-or-three other jobs.
I need to figure out whether I’ll make it a free-for-all, whether I need some moderators to help me keep you lovely hooligans away from fire, and whether I’ll make it a paid subscriber benefit.
But, this also relies on whether you all actually want this, and how you would like us all to go about this.
Like always, comment below, let me know what you think, what you want, and how you’re feeling about all of this.
Thank you for reading
