Emmanuel Macron nominates Michel Barnier as PM who immediately meets resistance from the Nouveau Front Populaire, we look at the tasks ahead, and Michèle Alliot-Marie sentenced to six months in prison
You're not going to like it OP, but I feel this comment is needed: readers, this newsletter has a pretty transparent right (at best center-right) bias. Certainly an anti-left one. Do with that information as you will.
I’m a centrist social liberal who wanted Bernard Cazeneuve or Francois Hollande to be PM, and who has repeatedly criticised my own party (Renaissance) to the point that I have damaged my own prospects for a political career.
Funny that, I thought Julien's piece was very un-biased and a good assessment of the political developments in France over the last week or so. I'd like to have seen the NFP form a coalition with Ensemble, but we have to ask ourselves why this hasn't been possible. What am I missing?
I'm sure there's far more to Macron's pick of Barnier than meets the eye. I have little doubt that Macron is an astute operator whose actions are more to do with steering France away from the clutches of the far-right in the future than to keep the socialists out of the game in the present.
Any idea what kind of policies he will deliver?
Barnier seems to be as a cat with several lives x)

Please explain to everyone how I’m right wing .
