Volunteer Deputy Editor - France & Europe

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Editor-in-Chief in planning, coordinating, and editing content for the publication

  • Oversee a team of writers, reporters, and contributors to ensure high-quality content that aligns with our editorial vision and standards

  • Proofread and edit pieces for accuracy, coherence, style, and structure

  • Liaise with our team members and contributors across France and Europe to cover events, stories, and trends

  • Stay up-to-date with local and regional news, culture, and events to generate fresh story ideas

  • Participate in editorial meetings, providing valuable input and feedback

  • Contribute to social media and online content strategies

Requirements:

  • Fluent in English; proficiency in additional European languages, most notably French, is a plus

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail

  • Strong understanding of journalistic ethics and libel laws

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team

  • Proactive, organised, and able to meet tight deadlines

  • Proficient in using digital tools and platforms for content management

Volunteer Social Media Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee all social media accounts, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to increase our readership and brand awareness

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends and best practices

  • Monitor user engagement and suggest content optimisation strategies

  • Coordinate with the editorial team to ensure timely, relevant, and engaging content

  • Provide constructive feedback and implement social media marketing campaigns

  • Respond to comments and customer queries in a timely manner


Requirements

  • Proven experience using social media

  • Hands-on experience in content management

  • Excellent copywriting skills

  • Ability to deliver creative content (text, image, and video)

  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (Canva, Photoshop, etc)

  • Knowledge of online marketing channels a plus

Content Enhancer

While not a full position, I’m looking for anyone who can help us to generate or enhance the content I’m producing and increase the offering.

This would include graphic design, infographics, videographers, data visualisers, or somebody who could help produce podcasts.
